Latest Updates from Our Project:

A fantastic finish! Thank you!
about 5 years ago – Tue, Apr 16, 2019 at 11:26:03 AM

We're so grateful to all 1,331 of you for putting this little Kickstarter well over the top, with a final total of $45,883 -- you pledged more than $9,000 (OVER NINE THOUSAND!) in the last two days alone. I'm so glad you'll get to see all 90 cards I wrote for these three expansions; Lar and I had a lot of fun creating the cards and we hope you will, too. I also have to thank Sabrina, Alex, and Gabby, our talented production team on these expansions, for making them look as good as they do. And, of course, Phil and Steve for letting me have fun at this job for over a decade now.

The best news is that we had a "premortem" on these expansions yesterday and we found almost nothing to change, so we should be good to send the files to print next week. That's ahead of our schedule, which makes us all very happy!

Next Steps

Most of you are previous backers, if our demographics are anything to go by, so this will be a review. However, if you've never backed a Kickstarter before, here's what you can expect. (Also, sing out in the comments so we can welcome you to the fun of crowdfunding!)

The first thing is that Kickstarter will try to charge the method of payment it has on file for you. If that payment goes through, excellent! If not, no worries – things happen (bank websites go down, a random neutrino fluctuation affects local spacetime, or a deposit got held up on its way to you) and Kickstarter will send you email alerting you to the problem and giving you a week to correct the issue. You can retry your existing payment method or submit a new one in that time. If you aren't able to correct the issue within a week, your pledge will be canceled . . . and that would suck, so please don't ignore that message!

Once all the pledges have been processed, Kickstarter takes their cut off the top and then the money is transferred to our account. We also get the data dump of who pledged how much for what levels. That's what Darryll will use to start building the BackerKit pledge manager for this project. Watch for that email toward the end of this month. In BackerKit, you'll be able to add on more goodness and allocate any credits you may have. (There may be some add-ons that weren't available during the Kickstarter proper; it all depends on what's in the warehouse when we're ready to go. So take the time to look through all the options!) We'll also charge shipping in BackerKit, so you'll need valid payment on file or be able to provide it when you check out.

Once your BackerKit is closed, the easy part is done and the hard, hard waiting begins. We'll keep updating this Kickstarter as milestones are reached and we get more concrete information about when you can expect us to start shipping your games. For now, however, enjoy a restful weekend with our thanks for another successful campaign!

Down to the Wire – Plus, New Promos!
about 5 years ago – Mon, Apr 15, 2019 at 09:57:33 PM

We're coming up on the last 30 hours of this Kickstarter and want to thank you all (over 1,100 and continuing to climb) for your support. It certainly looks like we're going to achieve the $37,500 stretch goal and get a full 30 cards into each mini-expansion. (Edit: While I was writing this update, we surpassed the goal. Huzzah!) That doesn't mean we can relax, however . . . we'd sure love to see that number get a lot bigger before tomorrow evening!

The $75 Level

We've had a couple of questions about the $75 pledge level, so let me quickly explain why it's a fantastic deal, well worth the upgrade.

If you choose that pledge level, not only will you get all three mini-expansions, we'll set you up with $60 of credit when the BackerKit launches that you can use to buy any of the add-ons already available OR anything we add in the pledge manager later. This is a great option for people who know they'll want some extra loot but don't yet know what it might be . . . and it helps support us right now!

The Promo Pack Revealed

One of those add-ons you can get is a pack of promo cards. (If you're already backing at the $21 lever or higher, you get one pack automatically, but is one really enough for the true Munchkin fan?) Several of the case cards are new and several more are reprints. Earlier today, Phil updated the graphic (also included below) and you can see the full set of 12 promos that you can get for $5.

To add another pack, you can manage your pledge to raise it by $5 per extra promo pack you want, or you can back for $75 and apply some of your credit to the promo pack when the BackerKit goes live. Either way, you don't want to miss these cards!

Last Week! One Thousand Backers! FnordCon!
about 5 years ago – Wed, Apr 10, 2019 at 04:03:48 PM

We're in the last few days of this Kickstarter and there are still stretch goals to unlock: the next one is less than one hundred dollars away! One thousand of you have backed the project so far – thank you! – so share this project with all your Munchkin-loving friends to help us make these expansions as big as we can!

FnordCon

Last weekend, we hosted the first ever FnordCon here in Austin. Among the many events were preview games with the cards from these mini-expansions (including some cards that are future stretch goals no one had seen yet). I'm pleased to report that everyone seemed to have a good time, particularly when it came to screwing me over (which happened frequently and with great gusto). To those of you who attended, thank you for making our first FnordCon a huge success! To those who didn't, we hope to see more of you if we do another one of these next year!

Warehouse 23 on Kickstarter

One last reminder: if you aren't following our sister Kickstarter account for Warehouse 23, you run the risk of missing some cool Munchkin projects coming up later this year. (Follow this account, too, of course!)

Here's to the last few days!

Another Promo Card, Shifting Inventory, and Atlas Games' Gloom
about 5 years ago – Sun, Apr 07, 2019 at 09:59:18 PM

We're now one week from the close of the project and we've got another promo card for the bonus pack that is included in all reward levels of $21 or higher: A new Munchkin Zombies card! If you've selected any reward level of $21 or higher then you're automatically getting this pack of promos at no extra charge! Want more? We'll offer the pack as a $5 add-on in BackerKit; grab lots of promos to hand out to your friends!

More $200 Reward Slots

We want to give you the rewards that you're asking for, so we've reduced the number of $150 reward slots so that we could open another ten $200 rewards. Thank you to everyone who asked if this was possible; with some work, yes! And we're happy to take those steps necessary to offer you the games and expansions that you want.

Atlas Games' Gloom Now on Kickstarter

Our friends at Atlas Games, publishers of Munchkin Gloom, have offered up Gloom of Thrones on Kickstarter. This new Gloom game comes in a standard and deluxe edition, and we suggest that you check it out if you're a fan of card games! The Atlas team work hard, create fantastic games, and we think that many of you won't want to miss out on their latest project. Check it out!

Promo Reveal, Rearranging Inventory, and Munchkin Starfinder
about 5 years ago – Wed, Apr 03, 2019 at 03:31:35 PM

Today, we've revealed another card in the promo pack: a new Star Munchkin promo! Everyone selecting the $21 reward level and higher receives this promo pack at no extra charge; if you want to add extras of the pack to your rewards (for those of you who like to give promos to your friends), increase your pledge by $5 and then let us know in the BackerKit stage.

Rearranging Inventory

The $200 reward level went fast, so we've shifted some games around to reduce the number of $150 slots and open another five spots in that $200 reward level. Where possible, we'll always adjust our numbers to meet your demands, and this is one time where that option is available to us. Thank you.

You Want More Star Munchkin Cards? You Want Munchkin Starfinder!

Did you know that the Munchkin Starfinder game uses the Star Munchkin card back design? If this is news to you, then you'll be happy to know that we've included the I Want It All! box as an add-on option, giving you the opportunity to add over 200 cards -- as well as a pack of dice, a Kill-O-Meter, and more -- to your growing Star Munchkin collection. To add this big box to your rewards, increase your pledge and then, in BackerKit, select the Munchkin Starfinder I Want It All! box as one of your add-on items.

Next Stretch Goal?

We're now less than $1,000 from the next stretch goal and adding another card to each of the three mini-expansions. And with almost two weeks to go before this project comes to a close, there's still time to unlock this stretch goal . . . and more! All we need is your continued support to make this happen. Please tell your friends about the campaign, and then get ready as more and more gets packed into this campaign. You keep the number growing, and we'll keep adding the stuff!
